Pet Funeral
What does a Pet Funeral Celebrant do?
A pet funeral celebrant is very similar to a normal funeral celebrant, except instead of saying goodbye to a human I provide a bespoke ceremony for guests to say goodbye to a beloved pet especially as they have offered us relationships similar to those that we have with members of our family providing companionship, loyalty, comfort, adventure and so much more. So, when that family member passes away, we feel that loss just like any other.
What can it involve?
Choosing a venue – where to hold your ceremony should be given careful thought there are crematoriums, chapels and cemeteries that offer space for pet funerals. But you may also want to consider holding your farewell at home. Your location is something very personal to you and your pet too.
Creating a ceremony – I will take time to learn about your pet, its character, did they live a full life, who was it closest to, recalling your fondest memories, what were its favourite things to do and how did it impact on your life? You can decide if you wish to include songs, prayers or poems for the ceremony, it can be a religious or non-religious or a mix of both. You may choose to include a symbolic ritual like lighting a candle or planting a tree. Whichever, I will of course personalise your ceremony to reflect YOUR wishes providing a copy of the ceremony as a keepsake.
The benefits of a Pet Funeral – The planning for a pet funeral can be a very important part of the healing process. It allows you to recognize the death and at the same time do something to help you and your families path through the grieving process. It is important to recognize just how challenging a time it can be when a loved pet dies.
My motivation – is to honour the memory of your beloved pet and create a ceremony that is a celebration of life, one which is personalised, professional and respectful to say your final farewell to your beloved pet.
